The Lecture Series meets the second Wednesday of the month, May – June and August – October, from 7:00-8:00pm in the Carriage House.

Neighborhood Watch Program

Do you feel safe leaving your home? There can’t be an officer on every block so citizen involvement is essential to combat crime. Neighborhood Watch programs allow neighbors to get to know each other, taking the time to care about each other and working together in a program of mutual assistance. Learn about citizen training programs, crime prevention strategies such as home security, operation Identification and others being implemented by citizens.

Walking Tour-Prince Memorial Greenway
Presenter: Bill Montgomery
We will meet at Luther Burbank Home & Gardens in the courtyard. During this leisurely stroll, local historian Bill Montgomery will discuss the history of the Greenway Project. You will view the maturing native California plants growing along the Greenway and will see the outstanding art projects by local artists that decorate many of the retaining walls, overpasses and benches along the trail.

King’s Nursery-Container Gardening w/Bulbs

Back by popular demand! Susan’s presentations are always fun! She brings new ideas and helpful hints for successful container gardening. Susan advises what type of plants and bulbs work well with containers, as well as offers advice on soil and fertilizers that work best. Many of the demonstration items she presents during the program will be offered for sale afterwards!

Walking Tour Juilliard Park and Church of One Tree
Presenter: Bill Montgomery
Meet at Luther Burbank Home & Gardens in the courtyard. We will take a casual stroll to visit the Juilliard Park neighborhood and the famous Church of One Tree. Bill will cover the history of these landmarks, as well as the plants of Juilliard. Designed by a young admirer of Luther Burbank, the park is a reminder of the Works Project Administration during the Depression.
